MATLAB, the lanaguage of technical computing, is a high-level language and interactive environment environment that enables the users to perform intensive tasks computationally and faster than traditional programming languages such as C, C++, Fortran and etc. The MATLAB environment contains large number of functions and routines that are useful in many areas of engineering and thus, it continues to be the environment of choice of many engineers.
There are several commands and tools available in the MATLAB software that are used to cater for the different requirements of the users. Two of the many powerful tools in the MATLAB that are used in this research study is the Power System Toolbox (PST) and the Simulink.
PST is a power system dynamics simulation and control design package coded in MATLAB that provides models of machines and control systems for performing transient stability simulations of a power system and for building state variable models in small signal analysis and damping controller design. The Simulink, on the other hand, is a toolbox extension of the MATLAB program used for simulating dynamic systems where it enables the construction and simulation of many complex systems, such as control systems modeled by the block diagrams with transfer functions.
In this research study, the analysis of CCP model can be realized by studying the model for Two-Area System. Controllers were also implemented into the plant model to study how these controllers can help to improve the output performances of the plant.
